Is it possible to place endnotes at the back of a book?

Greetings, Wise Ones ---

I have a book document that contains several chapters. At the moment, I have endnotes at the end of each chapter. Instead, I'd like to have all the chapter endnotes appear together at the back of the book. Is this possible in Indesign?

For Positioning Options, I've selected "Document" for the Scope and "on a new page" for the Endnote Frame. This should load the cursor and allow me to place the selected text into a new Endnote chapter. Except that the cursor doesn't load. What am I doing wrong? Or am I attempting the impossible?

All advice much appreciated!

Marie

Hi Marie:

Endnotes are fairly new feature, and for now, dynamic endnotes for a book are not supported.

See Endnotes at the end of book for a work-around.

Thanks, Barb! I'll try the work-around. But I can't believe that InDesign doesn't support such a basic publishing function.

I appreciate your help!

Hi Marie:

I agree, but I also understand that they needed to start somewhere. Hopefully, we will see progress on the feature.
