Is it possible to prevent packaging of fonts?

Is it possible to remove the ability of users to collect fonts when packaging an InDesign document? My goal is to prevent unapproved font distribution.

Any help is appreciated.

We do use Universal Type Server so they can't grab them from the system.

There is a preference to allow or disallow "Collect Fonts for Output" within  UTS but it only affects the Universal Type Client software. Users can still package fonts from InDesign and Illustrator.

I contacted Extensis and they said they don't have any way of managing the permissions of the Adobe applications.

This is an agency setting with a creative department and a production department. The production department is pretty buttoned up but the creatives tend to send files all over the place with little regard for EULAs.

I think your only option to help prevent this is a stern policy meeting with the creatives, letting them know that it is not just against company policy, but also actually illegal for them to share fonts outside of the machines they are licensed to. Emphasize that it will not be tolerated, as the legal repercussions would fall on the agency.

You can't, as far as I know, absolutely prevent it.

You can uncheck Fonts when you are packaging files, and make unchecking this box  part of your department standards.

That's what I'm thinking also but I thought I'd ask the question. Thanks for the reply.

If you use only Adobe Fonts (formerly Typekit) they won’t be packaged.

The fonts aren't available for collection by others via packaging an InDesign document.
