Hi There!
i got some problems with the fonts … two open documents, a empty new one (not saved) and a older one from the last year. The older one displays everthing fine. If i copy some textboxes from the older to the new … the text was red highlighted, as missing font are there … i'm using Fontexplorer and other software on macOS in the latest version … please have look on the screenshot. I thought the fonts where correct activated by openig the older file, but why they are marked as "missing" by copy/paste elements from one file to the other?

thanks a lot!

Hi,

If the document that displays correctly the fonts has been packaged with a “document fonts” folder, it uses these fonts, not the fonts that are activated by FontExplorer and these fonts can only be used in this document. Did you check this?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. In addition to the correct response given earlier, I'd also recommend checking out help article https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/using/package-font-files.html to know more about Font Packaging.

Hope it helps.

Regards,

Ashutosh

Thanks jmlevy! Thats new for me, i thought the packed fonts are for backup. And i don't know that indesign can use fonts without a font activation, or font management software. In this case you're right, the older one was packed by indesign.

thanks a lot and regards!
