Issues while placing EPS and PNG files with transparency in InDesign

Sorry to hear about this issue. As mentioned above, it could be related to the file itself. Could you please confirm the application from which you have exported these EPS and PNG files? Will it be possible to share the actual file?

This will help us replicate this issue at our end and troubleshoot accordingly.

As John said you will get much better results with .ai files for vector and psd files for transparent raster images. It also looks like your png file may have actually had a white background in Illustrator before you exported as a png file. If that was the case then even if you had the transparent option chosen during the export process the file would not have a transparent background and would give the result that you have shown. As a general rule if you can keep a logo as a raster file, saved as .ai or an x-4 .pdf you will be better off as then you should never have to worry about visual quality. If you want the file to retain full editability through Illustrator then use .ai.

What kind of graphic is this and in what kind of document are you placing it? In any case, neither of those formats is ideal.

If it's a vector graphic, (re)open it in Illustrator and save as .ai, then re-attempt Place.

If it's a raster image, (re)open it in Photoshop and save as .psd, then re-attempt Place.
