Issues with placing images in Master page frames

I'm having a strange issue with placing images in master page frames that is driving me batty, so any help would be much appreciated. I have a two page Master Page spread that has a background image, sidebar images on both left and right edges, and a frame arranged on each page (both set for graphic content and proportionally fit content), see image below:For some reason, when attempting to place an image in the frames on the pages (not master), it correctly places inside the frame and resizes properly on the left side, but does not register the frame on the right side and instead places normally (as if there was no frame present). I have looked at settings and tried copy and pasting the frame from the left to the right, but nothing seems to work. I just don't understand why it works on one side but not the other! While I can get around this by placing a new frame on each right page, it would be nice to save some time by avoiding this.

Ok, managed to fix it. Apparently having the background image spread over both pages was the thing causing the issue, as when I made a separate background image for each page of the Master spread it allowed me to place images in the right hand frame. I'll consider this solved, though if anyone wants to chime in as to why this is the case from a more technical standpoint, I'd love to hear 🙂

Update: I've tried removing all the images on the master pages (the background and the two sidebars), and it seems to be the background image that is preventing image placement in the right side frame (not sure why though, maybe because I have the one image spread over both pages?). I'll update again if I manage to get it working...

Ok, managed to fix it.     Images which span over the spine on the master should be divided at the spine as they hang technically only with one side. Not divided images (or even only frames) may taken to the wrong page or missing on the page you want to have them there.

     

    1. Place the image over tha spine as it would be at the end.
    2. Copy that image.
    3. Move the frame border to the spine.
    4. Paste on place.
    5. Do the same as step 3 for the other page

     

    Work always with layers. Background colors or images should always be in the most bottom layer.

      Hi LLokki: check the right master to see if there is another frame on top of the graphic frame. And try reassigning the A master to the right page before you try again to place the graphic. If neither of those works, I'm happy to look at the file.
