Jpeg colours aren't showing the same when opened in Photoshop or Indesign.

I'm having issues with colours in Indesign and Photoshop. When I open a jpeg in photoshop or place it in Indesign the colours become really saturated even when exporting the PDF. How can I get the colours I see when I open the jpeg in preview?

When I export the document as an Epub the colours are fine.

Thanks,

Lucy

In Photoshop Edit>Assign Profile...

Then when you Save make sure that embed profile is checked

AFAIK Apple Preview is a valid image viewer and is does support Color Management. Not PDFs though.

If your jpeg doesn't have an embedded profile Apple will use the Apple default and Adobe will use the Application Working Space or for InDesign the Document Working Space.

If you open the jpeg in Photoshop try Assigning one of the P3 spaces and see if its a better match.

Bear in mind that the DCI-P3 spaces are a lot bigger than sRGB (and also could be HDR) so if your final output is limited to sRGB (or SDR) the conversion will dull it down from what you see on screen.

Thankyou for your help. How do I alter the P3 spaces?

In both InDesign and Photoshop go through Edit>Color Settings and make sure that all of the color options are the same for both programs.

Apple Preview is neither a valid image or PDF viewer as it does not support color management. EPUB do not support color manaagement neither.

If you work with applicattions without color management make your images in sRGB.

Hi,

I'm a bit confused, the client is asking for the colours to match what Apple preview shows. How do I do this?

Thanks,
Lucy
