Keep getting this error when exporting to ePub

Hi,

When exporting to an ebook I get this error in Calibre when checking the file.

Page Anchor not found : 2

Page Anchor in "C:\Users\user\Dropbox\STORY \BOOK Almost a star" is missing: 2

After researching, I have tried many things to correct it however nothing seems to move it.

I did see in viewing the ebook, there is no seperation between page 2 and 3 and this continues through the 210 pagesand I am nt sure how to for a page end and new page start. All pages look fine in the orig InD and in the exported PDF file.

I will mention the last item in Page 2 is an image, no text follows until the next page.

Any suggestions here please?

If you are getting problems like this exporting out of 20.3.1, then probably this is a current bug. You might have to roll back a patch version until this gets more fully known.

Well it would appear it's the image at the end of page 2 as it's the only thing on the page right?

I wonder if InDesign reflowable ePub exports don’t automatically split pages unless you’ve set up chapter-style breaks using paragraph styles or explicit break markers?

Could you try forced page breaks? Isn't there an option Paragraph Styles with Export Tagging - go to Paragraph Style Options > Export Tagging.

Is it set to tag h1 or h2?

I'm thinking this will force InDesign to split the ePub at each instance of that style - maybe?

I'm thinking even if page 2 ends with an image and page 3 has a heading using the style above, it will ensure a page break - maybe.

Or InDesign might skip generating anchors if a page ends with just an image frame. Would you be able to add an invisible character or a non-breaking space styled with a paragraph style that allows for export tagging and page splitting. You can make it 0 pt if needed.

What if you open the ePub in Sigil or Calibre Editor, and look at the internal structure

Do you have the toc.ncx or nav.xhtml file for anchors like #page_2?

Maybe you can either remove or fix those anchors directly in the ePub if you’re comfortable editing the code.

This might be a limitation of the reflowable ePub format - would it be a dealbreaker if exporting to Fixed Layout ePub instead?
