Question

Keyboard shortcut to cycle through "change case"?

Am I dreaming? I thought I'd come across a keyboard shortcut involving the F3 key that cycled through the "change case" function -- possibly in conjunction with another key (cntrl, alt, shift?), but today it's not working. Maybe this is a keyboard shortcut in some other software and I've just gotten myself confused? Does anyone know anything about this? If this cycle-through feature doesn't exist in InDesign, it should, and if no one knows about this particular shortcut -- maybe I am dreaming -- I'll go add it to the feature request page.

It's a Microsoft Word shortcut - it's Shift +F3 to cycle between case options.

Years ago, Ariel at IdExtras.com wrote a Javascript that mimics this cycling-through-case-settings behavior in InDesign. You could even assign the Shift + F3 shortcut to it if you wanted to recreate this exact shortcut in InDesign.

@Joel Cherney that's close to how I'm using Ariel's script, though I assigned the shortcut ctrl+shift+tilde as it's a shortcut I don't use anywhere else.

To other readers of this post who are unsure how to assign a keyboard shortcut, check out Adobe's help article: https://helpx.adobe.com/au/indesign/using/customize-menus-keyboard-shortcuts.html

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!

Good suggestion re using the tilde as part of the shortcut assignment. I'll keep that in mind when I try the script!
