Hi, I'm trying to use English and hebrew characters in Indesign cc 2023. I can't find the option of changing the text right to left or left to right. Can you show me where to find that option? Also the punctuation marks stay on the right side when I want it on the left side. Please advise.

Thank you!

To work with RTL languages you have to install ADDITIONALY the Hebrew or Arabic version. To keep the User Interface in your language (if it is not English) you must not uninstall your version, you have to install it above your version.

  1. Go to the CC Desktop Application
  2. There go to preferences
  3. In the left panel click on Apps. (Do not confuse it with the App menu on top of the window.)
  4. Scroll down almost to the bottom when you see Installing section.
  5. Change the Defaul Install Language
  6. Now install all applications you want to use Hebrew.
  7. Now additional elements in the UI are available.
  8. At the end change to your default language.

To work with RTL languages all paragraph styles with Hebrew text (even partially) need in the paragraph finetuning a world composer, but normal LTR text should use the normal  omposer as its hyphenation is better.
