Let me try and be helpful here ...

The latest version of Adobe InDesign (v18.2.1) appears to have stopped allowing the use of Postscript Type 1 fonts. Adobe's current OpenType fonts and TrueType fonts provided by Apple and Microsoft (and countless numbers of third parties, with varying levels of quality) are still usable with the latest version of InDesign.

If you find yourself caught on deadline without your Postscript fonts, you can conceivably go back to the previous version (v.18.1) and regain use of your Postscript Type 1 fonts with InDesign. You may find you have to first uninstall all remnants of the latest version of InDesign using Adobe's CC Cleaner Tool before you can reinstall InDesign v.18.1 and regain use of your Postscript fonts.

Once past your crisis, you can either choose to keep running v.18.1 to use your current fonts or, optionally, replace or translate your existing Postscript fonts into OpenType versions. There are a number of utilities and services which can help with that task, again, with varying degrees of success. I've used FontLab's TransType utility to good effect, but it's just one of several options available to you.

TL;DR - Roll back to v.18.1, removing the current version of InDesign (and Creative Cloud) using the CC Cleaner Tool. Then, later, replace your current Type 1 fonts with OpenType equivalents because there's no future in using them.

Hope this helps,

Randy

Which fonts? If they're Type 1 you've had years to prepare for this. If not, please give us more details.

Hi Bob,

How do I find out which fonts are Type 1?

You can use InDesign's package functions to "flight-check" which fonts are used in your document. Use the File>Package menu command, and check out the Fonts option at the left of the dialog box. It should let you know which fonts are used in your document(s), and what types of fonts they are.
