Latest InDesign V21 not appearing as available update

The latest InDesign version 21 isn't appearing in Creative Cloud available updates. I can't open a shared file as the file is saved in version 21, so it wants me to convert the file.

How can I make the latestest InDesign version appear? I've reset, sign-in/out, installs all updated avail etc...

What's your operating system version as well as the computer specs?

Hi @Majestic_Wish6051,

Thanks for the update. Please open the Creative Cloud app, go to the Apps tab, and click View Updates again. If the new version still doesn’t appear, try completely uninstalling the Creative Cloud desktop app using the CC Cleaner Tool and then reinstall it to check if the update becomes available. You can find the steps here: https://adobe.ly/3Lx6xm6.

Once you've tried that, please let me know if the update appears.

Looking forward to your update.

Abhishek

That's drastic and may indeed be necessary but I'd be more inclined to take a deeper dive into all of the system specs to make sure it's not a compatibility issue.

Unless your colleague used one of the brand new features introduced today, you should be able to convert that file and continue working on it.

I do want to say that it's really not a good idea to move to a brand new version on the first day of a release. The first release from any vendor—not just Adobe—tend to be buggy. Waiting to move important work over to a new version really should wait until at least the .1 patch is out.

Located in Australia and using a Mac.

Should have clarified that my colleague received the new version today and is on a Dell. Colleague has since saved a shared file using new InDesign version, and I'm unable to open without converting the file.

Confirming that I have macOS Tahoe Version 26.0.1 installed.

AFAIK, the rollout is now global.

Mac? Dell? Those are meaningless for the purposes of this discussion.

What are the full system specifications including operating system and RAM.

As per @leo.r, updates normally roll out regionally but it's odd that the others are there.

Separately, InDesign doesn't offer an update if your system doesn't support it.

macOS users

  • Support for macOS 12.0 (Monterey) has been discontinued. Installing the 21.x versions on macOS 12.0 or older isn't possible.
  • The 21.x versions of InDesign are not supported on Rosetta. Mac users can continue to use the 21.0 version on Apple silicon and Intel-based Mac.

Windows users

  • It is not possible to install the 21.x versions on Intel® 3rd Generation of processors or older (as well as older AMD processors).
