Leading spacing changes when copy and pasting type from 1 ID file to another ID file

Been having this issue for awhile on a few files, but now it is happening more often. When copying text between 2 different ID files the leading changes. See attached screen shot.

Yup.

Is the text in one document aligned to the baseline grid, and not in the other?

If both are aligned to the grid: is the grid at the same distance?

If no to both: if the leading value is "(Auto)" (or a number between parenthesis, which also indicates "Automatic"), is the Autoleading value in Justification different?

Neither file has baseline grid align on and the leading is not Auto.

I’m coping and pasting the entire text box and it’s changing from document to document.

As Bob suggests, formatting changes usually are caused by copying and pasting text with styles (either Object, Paragraph, or Character) that have the same name, but different definitions in the source and destination. For example the [Basic Paragraph] or [Basic Text Frame] styles with different defintions in the two docs.

Use paste without formatting.

I’m coping and pasting the entire text box and it’s changing from document to document. I did try pasting without formatting and it still isn’t keeping the leading spacing, or the font weight.

Does the file you're copying to have an identically named style?
