I have a text frame (inDesign) that expands in 4 directions. But I only want it to increase in one direction. Tried all settings in "command B"

Hi @tinae83827792 I just opened your attached InDesign file. The only frame in it (the yellow frame) is not a text frame but an unassigned frame, so Cmd B does not do anything.

If you transform it in a text frame and set the autosize like this, it will work, as wrote @Willi Adelberger .

Make an object style where it expands only in the direction you need it. Apply this style.

Double click the control handle on whichever side you wish to expand.

If you're looking for auto-sizing of the Text Frame you can control which side it expands on

If you set the alignment to the upper left in the control panel (as seen in the screenshot below) then the selected frame will expand in the direction that you're looking for when you enter the desired X and Y coordinates.
