Linked Image Layer deleted or replaced from project still showing as missing link

I am using Indesign 19.0.1 on windows, I had the image file in the project then replaced it. The project is showing the updated instances and old instances which I cant find as a layer in the project not can I update them.

    You should be able to right click the missing link and choose Go To link and it should take you there. 

    Missing links can show on hidden layers. 

     

    It's either hidden somewhere on a layer - can you not relink the image - if you choose to Relink the image then select the image in the folder and see if it shows up again?

     

    It's either that or the file has minor corruption

     

    If a document is not behaving well then try 

    File>Export 

    Choose IDML

    Open the IDML in InDesign
    Save the file as a new InDesign file with a new name
    See if the issue persists.
