Linking files direct from Sharepoint to indesign

Is it at all possible to link/place files from a MicroSoft Sharepoint site direct to Indesign?

I would like to link a Word/Excel file direct to the sharepoint site and avoid using my local one drive.

I know i can create a shortcut on my Onedrive from the sharepoint site but i want to keep the path in the links panel direct to the url and not to someones local onedrive which i know it adds when you create shortcuts.

Essentially i like to mount a sharepoint site as a direct drive to the mac

If you want direct linking without local OneDrive, your best bet is:

  • Mount the SharePoint library via WebDAV in Finder.
  • Place the file in InDesign from that mounted volume.
  • Updates will reflect in InDesign when the file is saved back to SharePoint.
  • Otherwise, the official workflow requires OneDrive sync.

Third-party tools to mount SharePoint as a drive

Some apps let you mount SharePoint directly as a network drive without syncing via OneDrive:

  • CloudMounter (paid)
  • ExpanDrive (paid)
  • Mountain Duck (paid)

They essentially expose SharePoint as a local folder, so InDesign sees it like any other drive.

You'd have to try them out - I have no experience with them, just looked them up.
