Links Missing When Opening Packaged File in Different InDesign Version

I created a package file with my indesign 2024, and all the sources were included properly in links folder. I double checked the new links and they were all updated properly.

But I have a problem when I transfer the package file to my girlfriend who is using indesign 2023.

When she uses .indd to open it, the program says it will convert automatically for her version. In this case, all the links go missing. When she uses .idml to open it, it says there are 0 missing links and n* modified links and asks if I want to modify the links. Either way, the links are missing.

Do you guys know if it's a matter of version, and how I can fix the problem ? Thanks

You can "fix" the problem by having her upgrade to 2024 and opening it in that version. Otherwise, you're going to always run into some issues trying to work between versions.

2023 won't open 2024.

If after opening IDML it asks to update links - how they can be missing?

What platform(s) and OS versions?

Are you linking to other InDesign documents? If so those need to be saved as IDML then resaved from a compatible version of InDesign.
