Question

Local OT fonts activated with FontBook missing in InDesign 17.3 (but visible in Illustrator 26.3.1)

I am working on a MacBook Pro in MacOS Monterey version 12.3. When I open an existing document in InDesign 17.3, the font FF Hydra OT Bold (licensed from FontShop, locally stored on my hard drive, and installed with FontBook 10.0) is reported missing. This is the first time something like this happens. I tried creating a new document in Illustrator 26.3.1 and was able select and use all 20 FF Hydra OT fonts. When I tried the same thing in InDesign 17.3, none of the FF Hydra OT fonts are visible in the font menu of the new document. I tried removing the FF Hydra OT fonts from FontBook and reinstalling them to no avail. Restarting also doesn’t help.

Hi @Bald Condensed ,

perhaps a silly question, is FF Hydra OT Bold the same as Hydra OT Bold ?

What's the exact name of the Hydra font that is showing in Adobe Illustrator?

FWIW: Also in Illustrator there is a Type > Find Font… panel, but unfortunatelly it will not show the exact version of a used font style. Just its name… (sigh.)

Hi @Bald Condensed ,

please show a screenshot of the missing font style selected from

Type > Find Font… with the Info section open.

Hi @Laubender ,

Sorry for not replying any earlier. I don’t think I received a notification that there was a reaction. Here are the screenshots when I open the document and when I access the Find Font… dialog window.
