Lock the Selection Tool?

Hi!  It drives me INSANE that the selection tool automatically switches to the *direct* selection tool if I grab the wrong part of an image.  This is especially true if I'm trying to move around a png or eps that has a transparent background.

Is there any way to lock the direction tool?  I have never once wanted my selection tool to start moving around an image inside a box, even after all these years of this "feature".

Thanks!

    Hi Rosenh:

The Selection tool behaves like the Direct Selection tool when you click the donut (aka Content Grabber) in the middle of an image or if you double click the image. Are you aware of which technique you are using? If the former, you can disable the Content Grabber via View > Extras > Hide Content Grabber.

Barb that's exactly what I needed! The technique didn't matter, because I just want to grab an item and move it, without having to worry that I grabbed it in the wrong place. 🙂 "Hide Content Grabber" solves it!
