Macbook Pro M1 2020 Ventura Indesign Beachballing

Managed to find a fix today if anyone comes across this frustrating problem with InDesign v18.5. See Mac and OS spec in title. InDesign files were beachballing on certain pages with multiple vector illustrations (they also looked jagged— the CPU usage roketed to 101%. Turned off GPU Performance and all works OK now.
