MacOS : keyboard shortcut to delete a line from beginning or the end?

I want to set Indesign keyboard shortcuts to conform to macOS conventions.

  • alt-arrow : move by words
  • shift-alt-arrow : select by words
  • alt-delete : remove words backwards
  • command-arrow : move to the line extremities

Those shortcuts are set but I can’t find a way to set the deletion to the end or the beginning of the line. Do you know where it’s located in the shortcuts table ?

Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+End lets you select to the end of the story. Leave out the Cmd/Ctrl to select to the end of a line. But deleting is a second operation. There is no shortcut in InDesign for this.

I don’t believe there are predefined shortcuts for this in InDesign (if there are, I’m sure others will correct me).

You’ll simply need to define a shortcut sequence that includes the existing shortcuts (using a script or 3rd-party software):

The easiest way, in my opinion, would be to use a macro utility like Keyboard Maestro.

You’d set up a shortcut sequence: Shift-End + Delete. Then assign the desired shortcut to this sequence.

Keyboard Maestro is not free. There are several other macro utilities, I think some of them are free.

You can also write a script, then assign a shortcut to it in InDesign.

It’s possible there are other ways as well.
