Major Lag in Windows 10

Hi, since installing InDesign CC2019, I've been experiencing major lag issues on documents of more than a 100 pages. The lag lasts anywhere between five seconds to a complete freeze.

It's so bad that I went back to CC2018, and then deleted my preferences. This does not fix the problem.

Previously, I didn't have this problem on the same kind of book projects.

Here are my computer specs:

Windows 10

Intel i7 @ 4.2 GHz

64Gb of Ram

Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX

System Drive: SSD

As you can see from the specs, I have a fairly new computer with a ton of RAM. In fact, I use this computer for some heavy audio work, and haven't experienced any performance issues.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

If there's anyone from Adobe reading this, I went ahead and uninstalled CC2018 and CC2019, deleting all preferences. I then reinstalled CC2019. The document still lags.

I then copied over the file to my 2009(!) Mac laptop and had absolutely no problems.

I know my PC isn't the problem because it's a pretty muscular system designed for pro audio work. It also has a GPU, unlike my Mac.

So it's got to be some kind of Windows 10 compatibility issue.

It's very fast on Win 10 for me and there are not a lot of reports of issues on that platform. There is something specific to your system. You mentioned a font manager. Did you disable it?

I have tried disabling the font manager and that didn't work.

Are there lots of high-res images in your layouts?

If yes, are you using a custom Preflight? If so, try turning off Preflight. (Uncheck "On" in Preflight panel) Turn it on only when you need to check your file.

Are you using high Quality Display? Try using Typical Display instead (View > Display Performance > Typical Display)

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for taking the time to post.

There are a lot of images. That said, I have both turned off custom preflight and gone down to fast display. I have also turned off thumbnails in the pages panel. No dice. Still major lag that makes it next to impossible to work.

Any third party plugins, particularly font managers?
