Question

Margins around everything I make when printing

Hi everyone,

When I make any sort of document in Adobe InDesign (or Illustrator) the design fills the entire space on the screen, but, when I print it, there is a large white border around the entire document. I have tried using bleed lines and dragging the design out wider. I have tried adjusting the settings. No matter what I do, it shrinks my document to make space for the border around the edges. The only way I have found around it is to print it out of adobe acrobat and adjust the advanced settings to have no border while printing. However, I want to make documents for a client that does not have access to adobe acrobat. Is there anything I can do when setting up or saving my file to prevent the white border around the edges?

Thanks in advance.

The border setting for desktop printers is going to determine if there's a border or not.

Some desktop printers can print borderless, others cannot. And then it's up to the end user to print it correctly using the correct settings for the printer.

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to invoke end-user behaviour.

Can you show us a screenshot?

In the InDesign - you need to define size of the Page.

Then you have Bleed and Slug that can affect final size of the PDF exported.
