Question

Master on master problem.. bug?

So I have a master "Top" with page numbers etc.

Then I have A-master which uses "Top" as it's master page.

Now I try to unlock and move the page number text field on the A-master. I can unlock it and move it, but it only creates a copy, the locked text field from the top master is still there.

I already checked and I don't have multiple text fields on the Top-master.

Please upload a sanitized (no important content) version of your document.

All right, here is the buggy file. Give it a go.

I made a new document and tried duplicating the behaviour, but this time it worked.

I believe there is some corruption in the document. I saved as IDML and opened the IDML. The duplication went away, however, there are still some strange alignment issues with A-Master's page number. I deleted the A-master, recreated it, and reapplied it to the pages. Seems to work OK now.

That said, I would consider making a new, clean document and move the content to the new layout.

I believe I was able to recreate your setup and then happily unlock and move items around without any weird duplicates.

Could you possibly post a screen shot?

Could you potentially have a corrupt file? What happens if you recreate this setup on a fresh document?

Try resetting the InDesign Preferences.
