Master Page Items not exporting

The header items of my master pages are not always exporting. The top image is form the PDF. The bottom image is from the InDesign file. Notice how the gray rule is missing from the PDF.  Sometimes the rule is missing from the left hand pages, sometimes it's on the right-hand pages.

The affected master pages were child master pages, and I was able to get around this issue by detaching the rule from the parent master page, and making it standalone on the child master page. Has anyone else experienced this issue? This appears to be a very recent bug, since all previous PDFs from these files had all the master page items in the PDF. The first time I saw this was from a PDF made 1 week ago.

I am running InDesign 14.0.2and Mac Mojave 10.14.3

Can you export two lines of text as a running header?

It's 0.5 pt. I've been using this same document for 8 years, and last week, some of the top rules stopped exporting.

In some cases, when thin rules are exported to the PDF, they're too thin to see when zoomed out. Zooming in makes them visible. .5pt should image correctly, however, but I've seen this problem many times in borders around table cells.

Can you check if this is the case? Will help us get a resolution for you.

  1. Zoom in on your PDF and see if they're there.
  2. Adjust the rule in your INDD file to something like 3-4 points and re-export the PDF. Are they still missing?
