Master pages won't drag

I'm trying to apply master pages to document by dragging master onto a page layout (done this many time before) but the master page won't drag. Any reason why this feature would suddenly disappear?

thanks everyone...i managed to solve the problem, and hopefully this will help someone else.
I noticed i could not drag and drop in windows explorer--and that was a pattern. did some research. Apparently this is a windows 10 bug of some sort.

SOLUTION: I did task manager/details found explorer.exe and right clicked to END PROCESS TREE. Then in tass manager, I did file/run new process, typed in "explorer," hit enter, and it reloaded explorer.
Then i could drag my files in explorer AND also in indesign.

Hi jaebaeli ,

will the following work for you as a workaround:

1. Select the pages you want to apply a specific master in the Pages panel.

2. Use the context menu's option: Apply Master to Pages…

Regards,

Uwe

Laubender--yes, i've been using that workaround, but it creates extra time and inconvenience, and i'd really like to know why the original feature stopped. thanks!
Michael Bullo-- as for resetting my preferences--does that mean i have to start over setting everything the way i like it? destroying all those painstaking settings is not really viable for me.
any other options?

Just your preferences (inches vs picas, etc.). Your workspace(s) and document settings will not be lost.

When normal behaviour suddenly stops, a reset of the preferences will often fix it.

Set preferences in Adobe InDesign

  • (Windows) Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
  • (Mac OS) While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
