Merge from CSV to InDesign

Trying to merge data from a CSV to InDesign.  These are for lesson manuals and some of the cells have multple lines that have a return in them - think lines with bullet points - the bullet points are objects in the ID file not in the CSV.  When the merge gets to the first cell that has the lines with the returns it totally stops and nothing more will merge.  Is there a way to set up the CSV or the ID template so that it will merge the cells with mutliple lines/returns in them?

You need to replace those "returns" in the CSV with some unique text - "#$#" - then replace "#$#" with "returns" in InDesign.
