Missing links that aren't missing

Hi all,

I am continually getting a 'this file has missing links to image/URL' message when I try to export. But the links panel lists every link as correct. A manual search doesn't find any missing links.

In addition, when I first open a file often the images appear as grey pixellated lines as though they aren't linked, but show up as linked with the correct path in the links panel. The file has not been moved or changed since last opening it and neither have any of the links been changed or moved. Update all links is greyed out, as the links appear to be linked. When I PDF the file it shows all links fine, but they appear pixellated or with white squares in them in the PDF unless I manually relink them all. Any ideas why this is happening all of a sudden (probably been a few weeks?) Very irritating.

see if you can package your file up with all assets. if it goes bad, you will get a log of what was missing, or anything else that would halt the process.

Remember, never say you can't do something in InDesign, it's always just a question of finding the right workaround to get the job done. © David Blatner

Are the images on a cloud service like DropBox?

With right mouse click select Make Offline Available before you start to use the file (linked file). Until then it is inot available. It is not an InDesignIssue, it is a DropBox Problem.

No, they are stored on the hard drive of the mac, along with the file, in the same folder. Nothing has moved or changed between opening. Sometimes they are stored on an external drive, either with the file or not, but no links have been broken in the interim. It’s really wierd.

Hi @Rebeccayule ,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. Could you please confirm the version of InDesign & the Operating System? You can also refer to this article  https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/graphics-links.html

We're here to help, just need more information.
