Move InDesign image links from local server to cloud

Hi Team

For many years we have had a number of users using software InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop on their Mac PCs. eg So a design in InDesign will have links to images on a shared onprem server.  ( If image is changed all linked design files have the new image and less overall storage is needed)  working well. We have thousands of design files that have links.

A sample link in InDesign is  S:\designteam\images\mainlogo.tif -Of course if the S Drive is not avaiable, then the design misses the image.

We want to MOVE TO THE CLOUD - How can we use the same links or do we need to update them

1) Can we some how use S:\designteam\images\mainlogo.tif in InDeisgn  in the Adobe Cloud or any other Cloud version - if so what is the process ?

2) Is there an Adobe program to change the links from  S:\designteam\images\  to say like  https://www.adobe.com/cloud/2344/image/ (this is made up) in all our files.  So we say change this folder to that folder and all programs are changes  - If so where can we get the program

3) is there a solution? - Please define  ( quite sure many people have moved to the cloud)

4) No solution, every InDesign file has to be manually updated ! Oh No a lot of work.

Any help is highly appreciated  - Thanks

It is possible to map an IP address to a letter drive. For example, here is a page outlining steps to take:

https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detailweb/a_id/25436#subject3

If you have many users to support, you might be interested in purchasing/licensing cloud storage that installs as a network drive letter. For example, tntdrive.com is such a cloud-based fee-licensed offering.

As of this date, you can create Adobe cloud files for Illustrator and for Photoshop. You can read the documentation for Illustrator and Photoshop to see have to save for the cloud. InDesign has a version of cloud files which is still in Beta (you can see it in the Beta section of the Creative Cloud application) but you shouldn't use it in production yet because occasionally a beta version will be withdrawn before a new version succeeds it.

I don't believe there is any automated way of converting files stored on a drive or server to cloud files. None that I have heard of.

Adobe offers Adobe Experience Cloud (if your company is large enough):

https://business.adobe.com/

It will do what you need but it starts from $60K (according to the info posted by other users.)

I'm sure you'll also get feedback on other solutions here soon.

...also there's Silicon Connector:

https://www.siliconpublishing.com/connector/

It lets you natively link to images on various cloud storage solutions.

Note: If you use Connector, then you might not be able to use various 3rd-party solutions and scripts that involve accessing your InDesign links, which can dramatically limit your workflow automation options.
