Moved to Mac Studio (M1) with same setup but script doesn't communicate with ID

Hey all,

I'm using VS Code to script ID (17.2) it worked fine. I've now moved to the new Mac Studio, transferred all settings over and have bascially the same setup, but when I run a simple script, it doesn't do anything. I don't even get an error message, nothing happens.

Is there a specific setting (maybe in the launch.json) that need to be changed when using the M1 chip?

On both machines, I have the ExtendScript Debugger v1.1.2 and the Adobe ExtendScript Language by Ole Henrik Stabell installed. Again, it all worked fine on my old iMac.

Thanks!

Frank

PS: I'm still getting the error message "The ExtendScript Language Server server crashed 5 times in the last 3 minutes. The server will not be restarted." all the time, but I got this on my iMac as well, so that can't be the problem.

Thanks for the reply, but this only brings the error "command 'extension.extendscript-debug.selectActiveTarget' not found". Meanwhile, I have foud another post about this issue and it looks like the Silicon version of VS Code doesn't work with ExtendScript… too bad. I have downloaded and opened VS Code for Intel and it immediately worked fine. Really sad the Silicon chip isn't supported.

Hi @AnotherFrank , just to clarify, did you install Visual Stuio Code Universal version?

Hey @rob day, at first I installed the Apple Silicon version, and after it didn't work (no Target Application option) I installed the Intel Chip version (which works but isn't optimised for the Silicon chip). So, to answer your question, no, I haven't used the Universal version yet. Would the Universal version perform better than the Intel Chip version?

Don’t know, but my brief search tells me you need the Universal version

How did you install the Adobe Apps? With Adobe's installer or via backup or other transfer from zhe old computer?

I think the problem is that I haven't selected and can't "Select the target application" at the bottom of my VS Code window. How can I make that option appear?

By @AnotherFrank

CMD+Shift+A then set the target app.
