Question

Multipage importing - alternate pages

I've searched a lot for a solution to this and have come up empty.
I work in a print shop and I want to drop two different 8.5x11" PDFs into an 17x11" InDesign document so that they're two-up, one on one side of the page and one on the other so that I can print them for cheaper. If they were single-sided print jobs, I would have no issue, but these are meant to print back-to-back, so importing them on one side of the page all the way down will result in them being mixed up. PDF A page 1 will be back-to-back with PDF B page 1 and vice versa. I need to import PDF A odd pages to the right side of the document and even pages on the left so they are back-to-back with each other. I hope I'm explaining this well enough... The only multipage importer I can find doesn't have any options for alternating page locations or skipping pages or anything that would help me. Does anyone have any ideas for a solution to this problem? Aside from manually repositioning half of the pages, obviously.

Thanks

Clearly it would require a scripting solution since it's not available in the InDesign interface. If you're lucky, someone may have written a script.
