Multiple designers working on indesign file

We have several (remote) designers working on the same inDesign file. What kind of check-in/check-out file management options are available so that they don't overwrite each other and each has access to the newest version of the file?

Thank you.

    What George is posting:

The plugin is build upon the slightly unknown InD-feature to be able to "place" .INDD's like normal assets/links.

So basically you can house a document into another document. If its available in your workgoup, somebody can edit/update that doc. And while youre working on your doc, your link palette shows, if there are any updates. You also can click deeper into your link palette so see which links your linked InD holds.

What the plugin does: You can assign a page, and the plugin creates a new InD-file for you, and does link that doc into your doc-page. You can now give away the new InD-file, which holds just the extracted page.

But there is more: With the plugin youre able to import that link back into your doc, like its never been a seperate file.

Remember, never say you can't do something in InDesign, it's always just a question of finding the right workaround to get the job done. © David Blatner

Depends on what they’re doing. If it’s only editing content, use InCopy.
