Question

Must now select complete ¶ to copy formatting with eyedropper

To copy paragraph formatting from one paragraph to another, I used only to have to click once in the source format and click once again anywhere in the paragraph I wanted to re-format. Suddenly today, I'm having to paint across the entire paragraph, as if I'm copying formats on the character level.

  • I double-clicked on the tool to see if there were any choices I'd changed—which I knew I hadn't done and there were none. "Paragraph style" was left unchecked, everything else was checked.
  • I quit the application and re-opened it. Not fixed

If anyone can think of anything I'm missing here, I'll be most grateful.

Thanks.

Rob

This is what paragraph styles are for.

I'm not sure I'm following you, Bob.

With paragraph styles checked or unchecked in the eyedropper, I'm still having the same trouble. I single-click anywhere in the source paragraph to load the eyedropper, then single-click in the target paragraph to apply the formatting. This used to apply the source paragraph's formatting to the target paragraph. Maybe more specifically, the source character's: if there was different character formatting within the source paragraph (such as bold, or lower case), the whole target paragraph would take the format of wherever the cursor was when I clicked in the source.

Now, a single click in the target does nothing. A double-click selects a word and formats that, a triple-click selects a line. With or without paragraph styles selected in the eyedropper options.
