My indesign features are not working

Question

I've been facing trouble with my indesign as I can't use any of the features like the pages tab or layers tab and I can create a new document so i know that it's not the documents problem, I can't even quit the application to restart it Please if anyone know what i can do to fix this please let me know and btw I'm on the last update

You can force quit the app, then reset ID preferences.

Restart app Mac: Hold down Option+ Command + Escape; a dialog appears with all running apps, choose InDesign.
