Don't only export as IDML, Save as Package for print with an IDML and PDF. This guarantees that all images and fonts are included and with the PDF the other recipient can see how it looks like. Now you need to send the whole package folder (you might zip it) to your colleges.

Why doesn't your colleague upgrade to CC2019?

That said, telling us something doesn't work is pretty much meaningless. What happens?

The colleague is using a corporate license and it does not seem we can get the update timely (not sure it is IT or financial policy).

IDML did not work. So I was wondering if there is an alternative way to save the file in the compatible format.

Any idea why IDML file from 14.01 cannot be read from 13.1 InDesign?

One more time: What happens when they try?

And...how did you create the IDML? Did you actually save as / export to IDML or did you just change the file extension?

Hi Paul,

there is no other option.

IDML is the only exchange format for documents between higher versions and lower versions of InDesign.

Try Saving As an IDML again.
