My Indesign hangs and then I have to restart whenever I use links or update links. I've tried on the hard drive and a portable drive - same thing. It is driving me mad. This is on all documents, not just one. Any ideas?

Sorry you're experiencing this, especially since it's affecting all of your documents and interrupting your workflow.

Could you please try the suggestions shared by the experts, particularly disabling the Generative AI options in InDesign Preferences and resetting InDesign preferences, then restart InDesign and test the Links workflow again?
