Question

Need Japanese text settings in the English interface.

All of the InDesign work I do requires both English and Japanese in the same document. To access the Japanese text features, paragraph settings, and print options, I need to install the Japanese version of InDesign. However, I work much more efficiently using the English interface.

In the past, I was able to install the Japanese version first, then uninstall it and reinstall the English version. This left the Japanese features and settings available while allowing me to use the English interface. Unfortunately, this workaround no longer seems to work with the current versions of InDesign.

Is there a new method for achieving the same result?

I'm currently using Windows, but I'll be switching to macOS next month. If there's a macOS solution, I'd be happy to hear about that as well.

Several google-able articles show how to install both on your computer. It takes a bit of hacking.
