Hey, my InDesign crashed and there was not automatic recovery pop-up as usual. So I managed to find the dbt file on my computer but can't manage to open it. The recovery file is there to grab but I found no solution to re-open it in InDesign so far to just save it again as my main file. How can I open or work with the dbt files? Can anyone help me pls?

I'm afraid you are out of luck. Thre is no way for you to use the recovery data directly yourself.

Were you by any chance working in a Dropbox or OneDrive folder? If so, those services keep versions of your file and you can roll back to a previous version. If you weren't, you just learned why you should be.

Unfortunately, like @Peter Spier said - you are out of luck - those dbt files are "for internal use only"...

You'll need to start from scratch - if you don't have backups...

Are you PC or Mac user? I'm not Mac user, but people sometimes mention TimeSomething - unless it's related to a Cloud service?

Edit: When I try to open the dbt file I receive the following meesage:

The file [name of the file] can not be opened. The file type is not supported from Adobe InDesign, a necessary plugin is missing or the file is already opened in another application.
