No warning about out-of-date cross references upon export to PDF

I’ve noticed lately that InDesign no longer gives a warning about out-of-date cross references when I export to PDF. I’m using version 25.5.1. I really rely on that safeguard as I use cross references in most of my documents! Is there a fix?

    Hi @annem83104206,

Thanks for reporting this, and sorry you're experiencing the issue.

I tested the same workflow on Windows 11, and the warning for out-of-date cross-references appeared as expected during PDF export.

Could you please confirm your OS and exact OS version? Also, please try backing up and resetting your InDesign preferences, then test the workflow again. You can follow the video at the bottom of this Adobe article for the steps:

Please let us know whether the warning appears after resetting the preferences.

    Thanks,
    Abhishek

Yes, I should have included that in my original post. I’m using Mac OS 26.6.2.
