Non-contiguous text selections

Is there any way of making non-contiguous text selections in InDesign?

In other words, selecting two or three different words in a long sentence (to which one can then apply character formatting).

TIA

Hugh

p.s. this is something that I do easily in Word (mac) by simply holding down the Alt/Option key.

Nope, not possible. Much requested, never supported. You can add your voice at InDesign user voice

I wish this were possible.

In the meantime, if you pick up the Character Style formats with the Eyedropper tool, it will stay loaded with these formats and you can apply them to multiple text selections, one after another. Not quite what you're asking for, but it will get you to the same result.

Thanks for this. It's a very helpful interim solution.
