Question

Not abel to use uncoated color profile while exporting pdf from Indesign

After updating Indesign, it has lost all the preset color profiles. They are still available in Photoshop and Illustrator, but I am unable to export pdf:s from Indesign with other color profiles than the defaults that Indesign has. Also it does not load profiles even if I try to load them manually. Has anyone the same problem, and how have you handled it? I need to use uncoated for newspaper advertising, so this is really a problem.

Hi @minna_holtta,

Thanks for reaching out! To assist you better, could you please share the version of InDesign and your operating system details? Also, could you provide screenshots of:

1. The color settings in your InDesign document.

2. The Output section of your export PDF settings.

Looking forward to your response!

Best,
Abhishek Rao

Version is 20.0.1 (2025) and here attached are the screenshots. I used to be able to choose the Uncoated profile for output, but not anymore.

Hi @minna_holtta,

Thank you for sharing the version details and screenshots!

Would you mind trying the below steps:

1. Copy the Color Settings File (.csf):

 - Navigate to this location on your system:
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Color\Settings\

 - Copy the relevant .csf file.

 - Paste it into the following location:
   C:\Users\<Your Username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Color\Settings

Replace <Your Username> with your Windows username.

2. Download and Install Adobe Bridge:

 - Open the Creative Cloud app and download Adobe Bridge.

 - Once installed, launch Bridge, and follow these steps:

  - Go to Edit > Color Settings. If the section says, "Not Synchronized" at the top, then you have to click on 'Apply' to synchronize the displayed color settings.

  - Select the desired color profile and follow the instructions to synchronize the settings across Adobe applications.

Reference:

Note : Make sure that all Adobe applications are closed before doing this action in Adobe Bridge.

Let us know if this resolves the issue, or if you need further assistance.

Best,
Abhishek Rao
