Not able to Save or Save As in InDesign 2021 on macOS BigSur

Help!

Save / Save As is greyed out — I have to force quit at least half a dozen times a day.

Have been trashing the prefrences but it only lasts for so long before it happens again.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. This is not the usual behavior of the app. In addition to the suggestions given earlier, I'd recommend following troubleshooting steps suggested on this community post(https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/resolve-slow-performance-and-unexpected-behavior-of-indesign/td-p/11487287?page=1) & let us know if they help.

Regards,

Ashutosh

It seems to be behaving if I have touch swiched off on my intuos wacom tablet...

I'll keep working like this to see if this is the cause.

Other things to try:

* Update Big Sur to 11.2

* Update InDesign to 16.1

* Check with Wacom to see if they has an update for the tablet

Hello jasonkyle1976

When this happens do this so you don't lose your work....

Export>>IDML

Closed down Indesign, reopen, see if missing functionalities are reinstated (if this doesn't work try and reboot your entire computer).

open the IDML and save as to INDD.

follow these steps when deleting the InDesign preferences files

Try to delete your InDesign preferences
Using a keyboard shortcut:
1. (Windows) Start InDesign, and then immediately press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files. ...
2. (Mac OS) Start InDesign, and then immediately press Shift+Option+Command+Control. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike

Yes I have been trashing the prefrences and this works for a while (Maybe a coincidence) and then the problem comes back.

Hi,

There are different levels of resetting preferences, take a look at the link below.......

Which version of InDesign and OS?

How much RAM and spare disk capacity do you have?

Are you running a third party application, such as a font manager?
