Not able to use Indesign CS5 after re-installation...

Question

After years of using Adobe Indesign CS5, I recently had to redo the installation due to a faulty HDD. However, when entering the valid key, I get the message that the serial number is not valid. I now have to take out a new subscription to be able to use Indesign, crazy while I have a valid code I am now being chased for costs. Who oh who has a solution or tips for this?

Part of the issue is that the mechanism for connecting to Adobe to valildate the serial no longer works, due to changes to higher Internet security connections, not to mention the impending retirement of CS5-CS6 Activatiion.
