Noto Sans goes crazy

Hi everyone,

I hope you have had a nice day so far! 🙂

I would need your help with the following issue I am having with the font Noto Sans.

I am currently working on a document that uses Noto sans Light as main font. I opened it the other day and suddenly there appears a link between the letters 's' and 't' (see attachment).

I have no idea how or why this happens suddenly and it only happens when I put in new text. The text that is already in place doesn't change. So I can still copy the formatting to get it right.

I tried to find out why this is happening but I can't find any difference if I inspect the the font.

My question is now how I can inspect every little detail of that font to see where the formatting is different?

Any thoughts, ideas,  tipps are very much appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Cheers

Christoph

Correct answer Peter Spier

It seems both are installed and activated. On my system (macOS Monterey) I can find Bold/Bolditalic/Italic/Regular. In the Adobe Cloud I activated Light/Semibold/Bold and Noto Sans SemiCondensed.

Lotsof similar reports of font problems having both Google and Adobe versions of fonts in use.

Pick one.

After searching a long time, disaling the TT version and getting the Opentype version and it still not working, I found an answer:
In the Paragraph dialog box, the "Latin and East Asian Layout" line needs to be checked, not the "Middle Eastern and South Asian" one.
Phew!

Thank you so much! I don't know why suddenly the ligature appeared but I am happy I now know how to deactivate them.

It was rather me going crazy....

Have a nice day!
