Question

Numbering of sub-sub-headers not working

Refer to attached screenshots.

Screenshot 01: the numbering of Header, Sub-header, and Sub-sub-header is fine on this page.

Screenshot 02: however, on the next page (and onward) all of the sub-sub-header numbers stay stuck at 3.2.1.

Screenshot 03: shows settings fro the numbers at Level 3.

I cannot figure out what Level 1 and 2 work but Level 3 does not.

Hi @Michael J B, I’m following up to check if you were able to find a solution for this? If not, try changing the Mode under Numbering Style in the Paragraph Style dialog window to “Continue from Previous Number” instead of “Start At” which it is set as according to the screenshot you’ve shared.

Let me know if this helps. If not, we would be happy to help further.

    Thanks,

    Nikunj

The issue was more complex - I received a resolution through hiring a consultant.

It must have something to do with the original settings. Without seeing the file, it was just guessing. Sample files are tremendously helpful if something like that happens again.
I’m glad you got it worked out.

The numbering for all level 3 entries remains as 3.2.1

    I tried

    ^1.^2.^#^m

and that also did not result in the desired change.

Do you mean replace ^1.^2.^3^t with ^1.^2.^#^t ?

If so, I did that and nothing changed.

It looks like you are just repeating the current level, not incrementing it.
