Export the InDesign document to IDML and then re-open that IDML to a new saved INDD document. Then, test again to see if the problem persists.

This issue may occur if the deleted object is still present in a hidden layer, on a master page, or was not properly removed from the InDesign document before exporting to EPUB. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Go to the Layers panel and ensure there are no hidden layers containing the deleted object. If you find any, delete or clean up those layers.
2. Open the Pages panel and review all master pages to ensure the object is not accidentally placed there.
3. On document pages, clear overrides (if any) by selecting the page and using Right-click > Clear Overrides on Master Page Items.
4. If the object was an anchored or interactive element (e.g., buttons or media), ensure it is not listed in the EPUB Interactivity Preview or Object Export Options.
5. After making changes, try exporting the EPUB again. Ensure the export settings are correct and not including unintentional content.
