Question

Odd behavior with InDesign 18.5

Hello,

While I just updated to InDesign 18.5, I'm finding that after the app has been running for a while, some of it's features just stop working, such as: saving a file, save-as option, importing / placing images, and exporting to a PDF file.

When any one of these things happen, I have to force quit the app and then I lose everything I've been working on. Does anyone know what may be causing this and how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

Hello,

I am still having this very same issue. I'm running all the latest versions of the Creative Cloud Suite and updated to OS Monterey 12.7.5. This continues to be an annoying issue and having to restart InDesign 24 v19.4 constantly is seriously hampering my production. These stop working after a while working in InDesign 24: Placing images, saving files, exporting to PDF, and so on. I lose my work and have to start over. This shouldn't be happening. Adobe - Please fix this issue....

And I've also tried using previous versions of InDesign and that doesn't fix the issues...

Try to run standard troubleshooting steps (if you haven't done yet):

https://www.rockymountaintraining.com/adobe-indesign-rebuilding-preferences-cache/

Also, try to create a clean new user account in System Settings > Users & Groups and work from there.

Also, do you have to stay on Monterey? It's quite possible that Monterey has nothing to do with your issues, but sometimes upgrading to a newer system fixes all kind of unexplained problems.

If you're using version 18.5 with a version of Mac OS Ventura try updating the OS to the latest version 13.5.1. If that does not work then you will have to try reinstalling an earlier version of InDesign. This is a widely reported issue.
