Odd color rendering in ID file after OS upgrade

I recently upgraded to Mac OS 27.0.1 Golden Gate. ID is 21.6. I have a file that has a very odd color rendering. It has a gray overlay on it. The PDF created from it (any settings) looks fine. OS file preview looks fine. File color settings are the same as all my other ID files that are fine. It looked fine before the OS upgrade. Tried running the file through the IDML route - no change.

Any ideas?

Hi @davecourtemanche , Do you also get the bad preview with Overprint/Separation Preview turned on?

Hello @davecourtemanche

That does look strange. Could you share a sample file here or via DM to me or @Abhishek Rao so we can check this on our end? Additionally, check if your Color Settings in InDesign are set to the defaults, recalibrate your monitor(s) for sRGB, and restart your computer and relaunch InDesign to see if the problem persists.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

View / High Quality is the same

View / Preview on CPU fixes the issue

Output / Separations fixes the issue

Hi @davecourtemanche,

Sorry you’re still dealing with this color-rendering issue. I wanted to check in and see whether there has been any change after trying the suggestions shared by the experts.

If the gray appearance is still present, could you please try View > Preview on CPU and compare it with the normal GPU preview? You can also try View > Display Performance > High-Quality Display and let us know whether either option changes the appearance.

Please let us know the current status and what you observe after these tests, and we’ll be happy to investigate further.

Abhishek

InDesign doesn’t officially support macOS 27 Golden Gate yet. Although I don’t know if this particular issue is a known bug on Golden Gate and is one of the reasons the support isn’t announced yet.
