For completeness sake, this is not just about the fraction but also many other OpenType features.

Even with the western composer we'll see only a subset - the popup has its space limitations (cutting off after 5 suggestions) and excludes figure styles among others.

Compare with the Glyphs panel - which also draws the individual glyphs of a single character out of context - or with an experimental plug-in:

This may be just an intentional design limitation (let's do that CJK later => forget about it) considering the larger number of OpenType features in better CJK fonts. They just do not fit that tiny UI, there is already a Glyphs panel for that.

I mean, several width forms, but also alternative fractions with a horizontal fraction bar, plus various alternate annotation forms (those circles and squares around) where some of them don't even have dedicated text attributes. Note the scrollbar size below, you would not want that in the popup thingy.

"The real issue is the OpenType Suggestions are not coming. If we go to Character-->OpenType-->Fractions it will work. Please see the attached ss. That thick blue underline and suggestions are not displaying."

Now it's clear what's missing.

And yes. I can confirm that issue!

The widget for the OpenType fractions is not showing up when the Adobe World Ready Paragraph Composer is used.

Not so with the "plain" Adobe Paragraph Composer:

Yes UWE Laubender... That was the issue...

Is it a bug?

Obviously yes; that's a bug!

As you can see from my screenshots I have absolutely no issues with that.

Would you like to share a sample document? Put it on Dropbox or a similar service and post the download link.

Maybe we have a bug with InDesign 2020. I can only tell it's working with InDesign 2021 on Windows 10.

Thanks,

If you chosse Adobe World Ready Composer, and if we select 1/2, there will be no suggestion underneth that selection. But, if we select Adobe Paragraph Composer and select 1/2, it will shows fraction suggestions under that selection.

Please see the attach screenshot that blue thick line and fraction suggestion is missing when we select World-Ready Paragraph Composer.

Hi Mottusuchi,

to make that work you must enable that OpenType feature in the Characters panel or in the applied paragraph style.

In my German InDesign 2021 version 16.4.0.55 on Windows 10 there is no issue with Minion Pro Regular:

Here the OpenType feature enabled in my German InDesign ( "Brüche" ) :

What's your exact version of InDesign and operating system?

Indesign Version: 15.1.4.x64

OS: Windows 10

I enabled OpenType Feature. This issue is only for Adobe World-Ready Composer. If I change Adobe World-Ready Composer to Adobe Paragraph Composer it is working...

Hi, I set up a simple test with fractions using Minion Pro. I applied the Open Type Fractions to the text, and it worked. I then applied the World-Ready composer and there was no change, i.e., the fractions stuck. In other words, I am unable to reproduce this problem.
