opening issues

Hello everyone, I've been trying to open the indesign app on my Mac for about three days now.
Every time I click on the program, it seems to open and then it just stops suddenly.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing and the problem persists--I'm writing my thesis and it's a big deal if it doesn't work! has anyone had similar experiences? what could be the problem? Thank you very much
