Question

Opening saved Indesign file shows another file open for a bit

Running latest version of Indesign - V19.3

Mac OS Sonoma 14.4

If I have a file open in Indesign, and then go to open a previously saved Indesign file by double clicking on the file in its folder. The file will open, but I will see a different file in it's place for a bit. This would be showing the last file open. After maybe a minute it will revert to the correct file. Zooming in and out does not work. I will minimize the window to the dock and then back again, this sometime forces it to load the correct preview. Really annoying, is this a glitch in Indesign? I have trashed preferences with no change.

First, try the standard troubleshooting steps:

https://www.rockymountaintraining.com/adobe-indesign-rebuilding-preferences-cache/

If it doesn't help, then let us know:

-what Mac/monitor you're using,

-how do you view files in InDesign (in tabs, with or without application frame etc.) and if if changing such settings makes a difference,

-when did the problem start, can you associate it with any software/hardware change/update.

Hi Leo,

I have done the clearing of preferenches, cache, and full uninstall of the software with all supporting files. No change. It seems to be random, I cannot figure out a pattern at the moment.

- I am using an M1 Max - 14" MacBook Pro plugged into a Samsung Viewfinity S9 5K 27" screen.

- Application frame is turned off. Files open in tabs. No hardware change, think it came with an update but can't remember exactly.

Just to make sure: did you try to turn Application Frame on?
